Congratulations on winning my challenge, there were many great pictures, but for me, yours stood out above all the others, everything about it grabbed me right from the first time I saw it. Well done, and thank you for joining in the fun.

Thank you for choosing my photo to win the Cristal ball challenge contest It is very encouraging when your photo gets recognised as something special and inspires me to get out and take more The crystal ball is a great item to work with in photography and whenever I am out using it lots of people show an interest in what you are doing

Great shot. Congratulations on the win. And it's only a few miles down the coast from where mine was taken!

I took this picture in Brixham in Devon England - I had bought myself a crystal ball after seeing other pictures and was so impressed I wanted to have a go I like quirky pictures. I took lots of snaps of various scenes but this one stood out to me as a typical seaside picture and the colours of the blue sky and the blue trawler offset with the yellow and brown on the trawlers just made the photo pop. It was taken in the middle of the afternoon in April. There is an art to getting just the right amount of background in the frame so you can tell its the main subject and adjusting the shot to get the bokeh effect without it being too blurred. I have practiced a lot since this shot but this is still my favourite. I am also experimenting with different sized crystal balls. I am delighted that my photo was recognised and won the crystal ball challenge. I take lots of photos as I am sure most photographers do and to have recognition from fellow photographers is the best thing. I enter lots of the viewbug challenges and I have also set my own challenges I am happy that I am part of the viewbug communityTime
It was taken middle of the afternoon and the sun was lighting the boats up and the water - as with crystal ball photography the reflection from the sun can be a problem but the reflection on this one is placed along the floats on the fishermans nets so doesn't look too overpoweringLighting
It was a lovely day very clear as you can see from the sky just right for this shotEquipment
My camera is an EOS100D and just a zoom lens and I used a 7cm crystal ball with a small glass crystal ball standInspiration
I was inspired to get a crystal ball by looking at other photographs on viewbug using a ball. I sent for two balls and got started snapping away I carry the smaller ball in my camera bag and whip it out when I see a subject I thin may work This particular day we had visited a couple of National Trust properties in the area and ended up in Brixham looking for Fish and Chips when the trawlers took my eye Whenever I get the ball out people stop and watch and are genuinely interested in what you are doingEditing
Not on this one it didn't need itIn my camera bag
I carry my camera body and three lenses a crystal ball cleaning cloth carrier bag to sit on if its wet an emergency poncho in case it rains mobile phone £1 shop glasses so it doesn't matter if they break my card and a pen and notepdFeedback
Just have a go - pick a subject that fills the ball lots of sky and fields don't work so well
