Location
Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJTime
4:46pm on a cold December day.Lighting
I took advantage of the waning daylight. A few photos after this the light was all gone.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L, tripodInspiration
I keep going back to this spot. The juxtaposition of the big, bustling city in on the horizon, and the quiet and calm water in the foreground are quite something. The light looks different every time I got there, giving me new challenges over and over again.Editing
Not too much beyond what I consider the basics in Lightroom: lens correction, contrast and exposure, and a little bit of tone curves. And naturally conversion to black and white. In my camera bag
A canon 5D Mark III (or Mark IV), and the following lenses: 24-70, 70-200. If I plan on something different I may also bring a Lensbaby Velvet, or a 8mm fisheye. Add to that ND filters, spare batteries, spare memory cards, lens cloth and a rocket blower.Feedback
Be patient and go back to the location as many times as you need to. Sometimes the light is not what you expected, or a dull cloud cover makes the photo boring, etc. Keep trying until you're happy!
