Behind The Lens

Location
This image was taken on a trip through the western states. I was on my way from Washington to Montana heading east on highway 2 when I spotted this great barn. I turned around to get some shots. As I walked through the long grass a herd of mule seers sprung from their morning nap. They appeared as dots in the background of a few of the images. I guess they loved the old barn too.
Time
It was morning about 9 am. A sunny October day with scattered clouds against a brilliant blue sky,
Lighting
Autumn light is my favorite. It seems to make everything extra special.
Equipment
I was shorting with a Canon 5D Mark iii and a canon EF 16-35mm 1:2.8 wise angle lens and a tripod.
Inspiration
I love old barns and my goal on the trip was to documenting travels and all the great things so experienced. This barn definitely qualified.
Editing
I am a no thrills photographer. I didn't use any filters or artificial light. I didn't bracket. I did do some post processi,g in Lightroom but for the most part, I depend on the light and composition at the time.
In my camera bag
I typically travel with 2 camera bodies , a wide angle, a zoom lens and a 50mm portrait lebs and a tripod. I carry lens wipes, a bright Flash, light and bear dpray since autumn is also a busy time for bears. I like to travel light. So this pretty much sums it up.
Feedback
If you are something you like-- STOP. You almost never come back and if you do, conditions will be different. Take lots of pictures and don't forget to check your shots. Try different settings. Take phit tours to learn new things and meet fellow photographers and have fun! You images will capture your mood and spirit so don't forget to stop and take it all in.
