Location
Seca near Portoroz (Portorose)Time
The whole day was bora wind. I was disappointed and I stopped looking for a motive. I went for a walk and then I first saw wooden ships. Time was about 11 a.m. The sun was already high and light straight into the lens. I managed to find a suitable position to avoid direct lighting. Luckily, the bora wind subsided and I had about 10 minutes to take shots.Lighting
The sun was already high and light straight into the lens. Time for shooting really was not the best. But the clouds were interesting and because of the wind was a different color to the sky. When the bora wind blows the conditions are completely different than usual.Equipment
Nikon D3200, kit lens 18-55 VR II and variable ND filterInspiration
In the village Seca (near Portoroz) operates Bracera Association. Members are engaged in the restoration and reconstruction of wooden ships. Their activity is not known to the public, tourists prefer to visit Portoroz. Wooden ships are a rarity and I am glad that I can photographed them.Editing
I am Linux fan and I'm using only open source software. I merged 3 shots with LuminanceHDR and GIMP.In my camera bag
I do not have a lot of equipment. I am MS patient and disabled (invalid). I need to pay attention to the weight of the equipment. Two years ago when I have to deal with disability and radical change of life, I bought a Nikon D3200. However, the shooting soon became my passion and way of life. I have a kit lens 18-55VR II and Tamron 70-300 Di VC USD. Later I bought a tripod. For macro photography I'm using the rings.Feedback
Photography is a way of life and an in-depth understanding of your surroundings. In the most difficult moment of my life when I was forced to accept disability and limitations I started to take photos. My life was given meaning and joy. Photography is observation. Be patient, wait for the right light and plan ahead. Above all, be open to new challenges and try to photograph the same subject in different ways.
