WOW! I don't ever think I've seen a night shot with so much definition in the foreground! It's stellar!

Palouse Falls Galaxy
In 2013, I put a lot of time and energy focusing on capturing the night skies. Especially the beautiful milky way where it is almost impossible to capture it in the city. That's simply because there are too much light pollution release to the atmosphere from the amount of lights using within the city.
And I try to find and drive to locations that are extremely dark, as far as possible from the cities. Trying to get more connected to the universe. And of course capturing the night sky. After a few trip in the west coast. I found myself falling in love with this experience. And I hope to go to new places to capture the night sky from different parts of the world.
And this place - Palouse Falls State Park, is one of my fav trip from 2013.
I wish you all have a wonderful holiday and hope you enjoy this night sky as much as I do when I was there!

Happy New Year!!

Behind The Lens

Location
Palouse Falls State Park
Time
11PM
Lighting
The canyon is really dark on a moonless night like this night, even with a extreme long exposure for the foreground. So I setup my shot just after sunset when there are still some lights. And waited for an hour before taking the shot for the background.
Equipment
Canon T3i, Samyang 8mm f/3.5
Inspiration
Capturing milkyway with a wonderful landscape foreground has been the motivation to me for a long time. Palouse Falls State Park is about 6 hours from my home town Vancouver, BC. It was on my bucket lists for long time.
Editing
2 different exposure shots Blended in Photoshop using Digital Blending.
In my camera bag
Canon EOS 6D, T3i, EF 24-105mm f/4L, EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, EF 200mm f/2.8L, Samyang 8mm f/3.5, Samyang 14mm f/2.8, Circular Polarizer, ND filter (both 77mm). Interval Timers, 2 x Tripods, And sometimes a Motion Dolly for taking time lapse photos
Feedback
A Dark Location Check Out Milkyway rise time / locations in advance Shooting multiple shots for foreground and background if necessary
