Luís I Iron Bridge connecting Gaia city Portugal (where in fact Port Wine is made) to Porto City Portugal. Designed and built by Theophile Seyrig, a Belgian Engineer that was a former associate of Gustave Eiffel and with him had been working on the construction of the Maria Pia Iron bridge for the Portuguese Rail Road back in 1875-1877, won the project for this bridge and built it between 1881 and 1886. Both structures preceded the Eiffel Tower respectively 12 years and 2 year before it was built between 1887 and 1889 in Paris, and it was in fact with the construction of the Maria Pia Iron Bridge for the Rail Road, that detained at that time the world record for a metallic arc for covering a span of 160 metres, that Gustave Eiffel earned international reputation and recognition which led among other for him to build the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
