Beautiful shot! I love this!! My only suggestion would be to watch your lines...the edge of the water seems to need a slight adjustment in its tilt. When the edge of the water is parallel with the edge of the images it is less likely to seem that the water runs out of the image.

Location
The Location of this photo is the little "Arber" lake, which is one of my home Mountains. The Lake itself is a relict of the ice Age and has swimming islands in it. The Peak with the two dots is the "Arber", the dots are Radio Stations from the Coldwar, because the Arber is with its 1456m the highest Peak in the Region. The Lake is very remote and not accessible directly with cars. The Region is the Bavarian Forest where i grew up.Time
The shot was made on a winter morning when it got more cold by each day. The time was around 10 a.m., because i wanted the Sun right ontop of the mountain. The de-freezing lake was a very nice surprise.Lighting
The very first rays of light of the sun always creates magical lens flares in combination with an wide angle lens. The lightning could be a little better if the left side of the forest had been more visible but the right side is just perfect. The Sun also made some nice Highlights on the lake.Equipment
First of all i used a pretty cheap tripod with an remote trigger, once i got used to it. I never did it otherwise. For the camera and other stuff its pretty basic and also cheap. I still und have used a Canon EOS 1000d with a Sigma 4.5-5.6 ex 10-22 mm Lens. Maybe what was most important were the gloves and warm shoes to keep myself warm. :DInspiration
Im always curious where the Sun is setting and where it is rising. All over the year the path of the sun is different and creates new possibility to shoot each spot. So i check with my apps where could be a good spot, check the weather and go out. I wish i had more time to go more shooting without planning but the schedule is always tight for an amateur photographer :DEditing
The usual Post-processing for landscape photography is always necessary when shooting against the sun. So the Whitebalance, Colortemperature is always a thing to do. But Furthermore i tried to enhance the ice on the lake , the lensflare, the root infront, the shadow and light areas. I didnt do a complete exposure set and layered, but instead worked on a single shot.In my camera bag
When packing my bag, i start with my Burton back-access bag. I love that back-access because in the winter i can mount my snowboard and tripod on the front and still able to get a good access to all my equipment. The equipment contains my Canon eos 1000d, 10-22mm wide angle, a 50mm and a 70-200mm. Then i add some filters and a remote trigger. I only pack my bag with a flash and flashlights if its really necessary. Oh and some tools like a small knife, lighter, handkerchief etc are always with me. In The winter i always have spare gloves and beanies with me.Feedback
An advice to capture something similar? I think planning is a big part of it and again not. I think the factors to predict a shot before getting to the spot is nearly impossible if its not the ordinary weather like 30° summer day or freezing winter day. So my only advice is: You can predict 100% the position of the sun at each time, everything else is something one has to adjust to.
