Location
The picture was taken in Miami Florida. This is facing the financial district, across from the Oriental MandarinHotel.Time
I was in an all day/night meeting. Arrived back from to my hotel room around 9pm at night. This is the view from my balcony. Since I'm a photographer, I never travel without my Nikon D810.Lighting
The focus of this image was to bring out the lights without blowing out the highlights. I used a slow shutter to blur the cars driving by on the bridge, and also wanted to have a nice effect on the water. I did very little post production work on this image. One of my favorite things about night time photography is when the lights have a star effect. I used f/22 for this image to get that star effect on the lights.Equipment
For this shot I used the following: Nikon D810 Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 Lee Filter - Little Stopper Nikon remote trigger. Manfrotto Tripod.Inspiration
The view was my inspiration for this picture. I looked out my balcony and knew this was going to be a great image.Editing
I did very little post processing on this image. In my camera bag
What I normally travel with is the following: Nikon D810 Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 Lens Nikon 105mm f/2.8 Micro Lens Lee Filters Manfrotto tripod.Feedback
For long exposure work, you need patience, a good tripod, and Lee filters.
