Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Bristol Zoo over the Christmas/New Year 2015 period.

Time

This image was taken around midday

Lighting

This wasn't an easy shot as this little monkey was behind glass and the lighting was quite poor apart from one part of the enclosure so I waited for over an hour hoping that he would eventually move into the right light. Eventually he moved and I took as many shots as possible hoping 1 would look ok, and luckily it did.

Equipment

A Canon EOS 650D with a Tamron 70-300 lens. No tripods or flash were used.

Inspiration

This particular monkey had the most amazing eyes and I just had to capture the look

Editing

I cropped the image and sharpened as much as possible, because this was shot behind glass I had to use the dehaze feature in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

I always carry a selection of filters, spare battery (charged), 50mm lens, Macro Lens and a Wide Angle lens

Feedback

Be aware of your surroundings in a zoo, there will be lots of people pushing and shoving to get a good look.
