This picture is taken in Gerlache Strait at the Antarctic Peninsula.Time
The picture is shot around 10PM 31-Dec- 2015 so it was on the last day of 2015Lighting
The light was as usual during the summer in antarctica, but it was too early in the evening to get the softness i prefer, and since we was going too celebrate new years eve i couldn't stay out as late as i wanted eitherEquipment
This was shot with a Nikon D4s, and a Sigma 24-105mm lens. I thought i would give the Sigma a last try because of focus issues when the lens is getting too cold. Actually i have no problem with this lens in warmer climatesInspiration
We was thinking of going up to a penguin colony nearby, but the weather and the scenery was so nice we almost missed out on the penguinesEditing
This picture was post processing with Capture One and Nic software. Actually i'm very happy with the outcome on this particular image. In my camera bag
Usually on this kind of trips I travel with as little as possible, a few fixed lens "sigma 35 and 50mm and a NIKKOR 85mm and one zoom lens, usually a NIKKOR 80-400mm and a Nikon D4sFeedback
The Antarctic Peninsula has unique characteristics and is one of the last wilderness almost untouched by humans. The nature is the most magnificent I have had the pleasure of experiencing and the light "can" be magical. The biggest challenge is the weather, it changes abruptly depending on the day you can have sun, snow and heavy wind and back to sunny and nice. All within a few hours.
