Behind The Lens

Location

In my home.

Time

This was taken midday.

Lighting

Believe it or not, this was taken with natural light coming from a large window to camera right and bounced back with a sliver reflector to the left.

Equipment

This was taken before I went to the darkside. :) This was taken with a Canon 5d Mk III and 100L macro lens.

Inspiration

Primarily I love taking portraits and landscapes. However, the opportunity to do those types of photography are not always available. I always have the itch the press the shutter and flowers make a great subject. Most people shoot flowers for their color. However, I've found that flowers with interesting patterns make great black and white subjects and I'm a bit of a black and white junkie.

Editing

Some adjustments in contrast and the conversion to black and white is all.

In my camera bag

Currently I have a Nikon D750 and Nikon glass. The Nikon 105 micro amazes me as much as the Canon 100L did. The other Nikon glass I have is a 24-70 2.8, 70-200 f/4, 105 2.8 and 16-35 f/4.

Feedback

Patients and wind free environment make a huge difference. Also don't forget to look from many angles. Zoom in and out with either your lens or your eyes to find a pleasing setup.
