Great and unusual shot. Excellent timing. The undercarriage is remarkable.

You did excellent work on this. The upward angle is a bit different.

Location
In Alice Springs, in a nature reserve (Australia)Time
This was about mid afternoon, slightly cloudy.Lighting
I always try to use natural lighting, and I keep the sun behind me most of the time for shots like this, for the best detail.Equipment
Hand held Canon Rebel. No flash or tripod. Canon lens 18-135 which is the lens I use the most. Fast shutter speed of course.Inspiration
I love birds and wildlife in general. When I had the opportunity to go to the wild life park, I was delighted. There was a bird demonstration, and it was during this presentation that I managed to get this shot! It is one of my most popular and favorite shots of a bird, apart from my hummingbirds.Editing
I do not use Photoshop, and I do only minimal post processing in Lightroom like exposure, framing and sometimes enhancing details or color on the subject. In my camera bag
I usually take 2 Canon camera bodies, plus 18-35 mm lens, lens hoods, and a couple of other telephoto lenses, extra batteries, SD cards, cleaning kit - sometimes a lightweight tripod. Alway my i-phone too - I use it for photos and videos. I try to travel as light as possible these days.Feedback
Mostly, be adventurous and pick a subject you are really excited about. I would also say, be open to anything and, since photography is about "the art of seeing" try to see things that most people would not notice, and take photos of them in a creative way. I have often gone on a shoot with one thing in mind, and then it turns into something quite different because of circumstances, like weather etc. Above all - HAVE FUN!
