This photo was taken in Paris, in a home studio. I was ordered to make a series of photographs for a flower distributer to advertise his production. My decision was to shot a pretty girl with various flowers to underline the natural beauty of both. Charming and elegant Katerina Li helped me as a model in this work.Time
As we worked in the studio, the time was not so important. Probably it was about noon.Lighting
Lighting was not easy. I wanted to make an association with an angel who flies towards the sun. So I set the main light source very low to light the face of the model, who was lying down the floor with her head tilted back. The second light source was filling the scene from above.Equipment
This was shot with my old Nikon D90 + Nikkor 18-200VR. I was standing on the table and hold the camera above my head trying to shoot straight down. So this was a kind of a blind shooting.Inspiration
I was thinking how to present tulips and their leaves reminded me of feathers. From this, there was just one step to the image of a girl with tulip wings. Wings is naturally associated with a fly, so I asked the model to raised her hands and keep a dynamic pose. Then I have surrounded her with hundred tulipsEditing
The color original of this photo was delivered to the customer: http://www.viewbug.com/photo/62225199 In a month or two, I understand for myself that color seems to be redundant, and the "flight" would be more dynamic if the background is nearly invisible. So I made a contrast black-and-withe version. And only then the name Phoenix came to my mindIn my camera bag
When I'm in the studio, I usually use my Nikon (currently D7200) and two lenses: Nikkor 18-200/3.5-5.6 and Nikkor 50/1.4. When shooting outdoor, I add to the bag Sigma 10-20 lens for architecture and a compact camera for street photography - either Fuji X20 or Panasonic FZ150.Feedback
An original idea is the key point for photographs like this. It took to me 3 or 4 weeks to understand what and how I should photograph. So my first advise is to think a lot before shooting. However, it took to me even more time to understand how to post-process the photo to obtain the most expressive and attractive visual presentation. So my second advise is to think even more after shooting ) PS Sorry for my English
