This photo was taken during a vacation on a chicken farm. My daughter wanted to touch a chicken and the farmer lady happened to have two very tame chickens who don't mind being held. So she gave one to my daughter and said "oh well, you can hold both of them", so she ended up with the two chickens under her arms.Time
The shot was taken in the late morning, in bright sunlight, there was no shade anywhere so it wasn't the best lighting conditions but I managed to get some decent shots anyway.Lighting
The wall was not the best background but everything else was still cluttered from the mornings work. There was not much space at the wall either and it was bright white and had some stains, so I had to do a little post processing to get a nice backgroundEquipment
This was just shot freehand, since everything happened really fast, and I didn't know if we would get the chance for another shot.Inspiration
Our family is very much in love with nature and animals, so it was a natural decision to travel to an organic farm for vacation. The happened to have lots of different, mostly freeroaming, animals. So she was very happy to run around and pet the ones that liked it, or help feeding the animals. I have lots of other pictures of her with the animals.Editing
I usually do a bit of editing, in this case it was a bit more to get a cleaner, nicer background. As I already said, it was a bright white wall, with some stains on it, so it didn't fit the composition at all. I also did a heavy vignette to get more attention to her and the chickens. In my camera bag
I usually carry my Nikon D850 and a Nikon 24-70mm/f2.8 as well as a Nikon 70-200mm/f2.8 and a Sigma 105mm/f2.8 Macro, since I love to do some macro shots of insects and spiders. Sometimes I use my Nikon 70-180mm/f4.5-5.6, which I absolutely love, it's a great lens for macro, even on the D850.Feedback
Vacations are always a good time to capture some nice shots of your children. If you have patience you can even get some really, really nice candid shots of them, which is always a bonus, since it shows their personality much more then any other shot you get. I love watching my daughter playing.
