Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken about 25 minutes from my home. I have a favorite spot I often stop at hoping for that magical something to happen that takes a scene from ho hum to interesting.
Time
I woke early to a day full of fog. Grabbed a cup of tea and headed to the bridge hoping the fog was there as well. This was taken around 9:35am.
Lighting
I had to wait for the sun to peak over the mountains to lighten the sky and for the fog to lift just a bit.
Equipment
This shot was handheld with my Sony A6000, 16-50mm lens, ISO 100, SS 1/125 s, F11, 16mm. I had to lean out over the water to get the right angle so a tripod wasn't an option.
Inspiration
I love fog and am always looking for interesting compositions. I live close to the river and in winter fog is often lying on the water. I thought the bridge with the snow dusted mountains in the background made for an interesting composition.
Editing
I almost love processing more than taking the picture! I start in Adobe Raw Editor where I do basic adjustments. From there I use Photoshop CC as my base program and then use a number of plug-in programs including all of OnOne, Topaz and Alienskin.
In my camera bag
Nikon D7000, 18-105mm, 105 Macro, 50mm 1.8, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 150-500mm lenses, (2) SB700 Nikon Flashes, Manfrotto Tripod, ND Filters. I also have my trusty Sony A6000 with the 16-50mm lens.
Feedback
Just get out and shoot. I have some of my best results shooting places that I go back to time and time again. There is usually something that draws me to a scene and I shoot it over and over again until the final piece falls into place, be that fog, or light or a full moon.
