Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Dursley Gloucestershire.

Time

It was early evening in the summertime, the sun was just setting.

Lighting

It’s natural light no accessories were used I think maybe the exposure was turned down a notch at the most. The photo itself isn’t edited in any way not cropped no enhancements it’s uploaded as it was naturally taken what you see is exactly how I saw it.

Equipment

This was taken on my Nikon L810 my main camera if I’ve not got it on me then I use my mobile, I don’t use lenses or filters as this make camera doesn’t have the use of accessories, it was taken free hand no tripod l, no flash was needed this camera is good at photos around dusk and dawn if the setting is on sunset that’s all it needs I usually have it set on landscape and it’s just the job.

Inspiration

My inspiration for this photo was the sillouette of the trees more so than the sunset, I like the style against the moon and I’d not really done this style against a sunset but it looked nice and I was happy with it.

Editing

I don’t do any processing to any of my work I much prefer to share my photos with the process of just uploading and sharing.

In my camera bag

I don’t usually carry a bag I head out with my Nikon and my friend who shares the same hobby and that’s all we need is the cameras. Cameras and good company.

Feedback

Keep it simple with the basic settings my camera is quite obvious and I put it simply on sunset, landscape is the better shot as the camera knows it’s focusing on the foreground anything else I do is the exposure setting up or down for a slight darker picture or lighter outcome sometimes that’s all I need to do rather than a flash. Try and keep it lined up in a frame as such like ot to much tree as it will just be a black silhouette not to much sky either as it opens the picture to much I try to be slightly creative and part of the tree looks better than the whole tree, I tend not to go lower than the horizon and this just blacks the detail I aim for the higher branches on a slight upwards tilt if need be or a little zoom, I like to think of it as a spooky looking picture and I prefer the branches that have character and stick out or a dead tree with no leafery, I have done this same style against a full moon and that’s pretty cool.
