It was an overcast day and the rocks seemed to shine.Equipment
Used my, at the time, new Nikon D3200 DSLR camera with the 35-80 mm lens that came with it. It iwas my first DSLR camera.Inspiration
I was testing my new camera with a hike to the upper falls. Spring was just talking hold in tthe mountains and everything felt fresh and new. As we walked toward the falls I kept getting glimpses of the lower falls and liked how the light was hitting the water and passage through to the pool below the falls. I walked to the edge of the gorge and leaned over to get the shot while my adult son held on to the strap of my backpack in case I slipped.Editing
The only post processing I did was to crop the picture and tweak the lighting settings.In my camera bag

Look for what inspires you. Johnston Canyon is one of my favourite places. I love to see it at different times of the day and through different seasons. Good lighting isn’t always based on the time of day, but in what you are trying to capture and share. The most important advice is that no matter how spectacular the picture you envision might be, always be aware of your surroundings and make sure it is safe when you’re looking through the lens. The shot isn’t worth your life.
