I took this photo at the Center for Birds of Prey in Awendaw, SC during a Photography Day shoot. My son and I were both there. He is the professional photographer and I am the amateur at this point.Time
This was taken around 10AM.Lighting
This was taken in the natural lighting available in the Owl Wood section of the Center.Equipment
I used a Nikon D3300 with a 55-300mm lens. I did not use a tripod or a flash. This was totally a hand-held camera shot.Inspiration
I love owls and I particularly loved the position of this White-Scops Owl.Editing
Basically this was just cropped. In my camera bag
I have some filters (which I have never used), extra battery, and an 18-55mm lens. I also have a macro lens and a telephoto lens. I rarely use either of those. I also keep lens cleaner and extra memory cards.Feedback
Just keep trying. I have taken many, many shots at the Center for Birds of Prey. Most of them have been out of focus or the light has been too bright. I'm still learning and I get excited when I actually get everything right. This was one of those moments when everything was right and I had a great angle.
