The photo was taken in Wellington, at the botanic garden where a lot of flowers and different species of trees are present.Time
Just before noon, I took the photo when the light started to enter in the conopy.Lighting
I selected the moment to have a good light on the background made of camellia.Equipment
I used a Canon 650d borrow from my flatmate (my camera broke a couple of weeks after I came to New Zealand). The standard kit lens was everything available but the range give me the opportunity to reach the silver fern I desiredInspiration
Because I was in New Zealand, I wanted to have a good shot of the famous silver fern. I found a place where a lot fern was easy to see and sneak to find something interesting. In a place, I found a small hole in trees where I can obtain a nice background thanks to the colorful camellias.Editing
Nothing fancy was performed on this photo: just a minor crop and an increase of light (shadows recovery) of the fern that was in a darker place. In my camera bag
Normally I used a Canon 6D, with Canon 16-35 F4 L or a Canon 70-300 L.Feedback
Thinking about background when you take a photo is as important as the subject itself.
