Location
The photo was taken in Riga, Latvia. In 2013, in our city was Tall Ship Races. Where you could see all ships in port what is located near the city center.Time
There was a lot of people at that moment. And the best place to shoot was on the bridge, where also were huge amount of people. The positive moment that I get there about half our before Golden hour, and found great position for my 50mm lense. That was the only lens I had at that time.Lighting
When golden hour started I made about 3 or 4 long exposure shots and only this one worked well, as sky and lights of ships became balanced.Equipment
It was my second camera with what I still shoot Nikon d3200. Lense was basic Nikkor 50mm 1.8g and also one cheap tripod for 30 bucks. Since then I changed tripod and bought Sigma 17-50, probably this shot would be better, but I still satisfied with the result.Inspiration
The ships was really inspiring by their self and I wanted to capture their beauty as I see it with my eyes.Editing
Mainly this picture needed only colour correction, some vibrance and contrast corrections. But nothing extreme I made in it.In my camera bag
I haven't got much equip as I am a student, so it is normally Nikon D3200+sigma 17-50 2.8f, polarization filter, remote shutter and tripod for Landscapes. As I have portrait shoot then I don't pick tripod and take 50mm Nikkor and yongnuo flash with triggers.Feedback
First thing is location, you need to find it before shooting. Second is time, probably you need to wait on that location for hour to get best light. As we are in digital age you could expirement, sometimes it's better to take long exposure shots sometimes it's better to freeze the moment. And don't be afraid of improvisation, as in our world conditions always changes, and two great shots could be captured in one place in different conditions and lighting.
