Thank you very much. I took the shot at the Bloomberg Building at 59th Street in Manhattan.

Thank you very much. I recommend trying a fisheye lens if you like to shoot with a different type of lens.

Behind The Lens
Location
I was on my way home and was passing the Bloomberg Building. It was during the holiday season so the alcove had additional decorations.Time
It was about 4:00 PM on Saturday the 22nd of December. The day was overcast and the sky looked like it was going to rain any minute.Lighting
The sky was overcast but I did not mind since the lights from the decorations and the building lights were very pleasing. In addition, the distortion from the lens drew the eye away from the grey sky.Equipment
This was a handheld shot using a Nikon D7000 and an aspherical 8 mm fisheye lens. There was no other lighting or equipment used in the capture.Inspiration
I was looking for a holiday shot and wanted to do something that was a little different. When I came upon this alcove and looked up at the building configuration through the lens I knew I had the capture I was looking for.Editing
The only processing was to slightly adjust the exposure on the sky since I exposed the shot to capture the darker buildings. In my camera bag
I normally have my Nikon D7000 camera and a Nikon 55-300 telephoto lens along with a prime 40 mm. This day I left my prime at home and took my new Altura 8 mm fisheye lens.Feedback
The most distortion of the image occurs at the periphery of the lens, so I try to compose the shot with interesting objects in those locations. You can also achieve creative effects by having your subject closer to the lens than you normally would. Finally just get out there and shoot everything, even if it is outside your comfort zone or something you have not tried before. This photograph was taken with a lens type that I had never used before, but I tried it and would recommend it to anyone who wants to add another tool in their creativity toolbox.
