Behind The Lens

Location

In Somerville, Ohio at our mini farm.

Time

Taken at dawn in the Autumn at about 7 am.

Lighting

It was mystical and the lighting was wonderful for the capture.

Equipment

I used the Nikon D7100 with AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Lens.

Inspiration

Nothing is more beautiful to me than horses running free. On crisp, foggy morning I had a vision on horses running in the field. So I let them out of the stall into a neighboring pasture and away they went. The Palomino is "Chance" a Paso/Rocky Mountain horse. He has been the subject of much! If you look closely, you can see the stick of grass in his mouth as he's running. The other horse is "Freedom" who we had for a few years. A 13 year old Tennessee Walker, he was the type that everyone could pet and ride. He is greatly missed. This day will always be remembered as they romped for quite some time.

Editing

Minimal editing with Pixlr.com and an application on my Linux. The typical edits were made ie; straighten, crop, sharpen.

In my camera bag

The equipment I use depends on the task at hand but my staple is my Nikon D7100 and 3500 body's. Various lenses make up my bag as well.

Feedback

If you have a vision- do it! This has been one of my all-time favorite photos and I hope you enjoy as well!
