Location
At home on a very rainy day, right outside my front door, on my passion flowersTime
Late afternoon.Lighting
Even with the rainy day there was a touch of sunlight that helped the lighting. I also took the shot many times for a couple of hours while it rained so I have a lot of these shots and kept checking the light.Equipment
Nikon D90, Lens 70-300 MM and no flash or tripod. I know using tripods are mostly a good thing I just have a bad habit of resisting them. Notice I did write bad habit.Inspiration
I love rainy days especially in summer time. In the area I live in fire season is a very serious thing and if we get rain less chance of accidental fires. I used rain as practice for action shots and just because I wanted to catch the beauty of one single rain drop from my passion flower vine.Editing
I took about 300 shots of the rain dropping off my passion flower vine. This particular shot was one of the best and didn't need much post processing except for a little cropping. In my camera bag
I have my Nikon D7200 and my Nikon D690 infrared camera. I may not like tripods much but I do bring it along. I bring my lens and camera cleaners I live in a dusty area. I bring 3 different lens along with me. I bring a lens cover for sunny days and my filters. I also put something to eat in my bag and water. I am diabetic and it is important to stay hydrated and have my sugar level in controlFeedback
Have a rain cover for your camera because you will be there a while and theres the chance of getting your lens and or camera wet. Have time to be there for a while because you will find yourself taking a lot of shots to get the one you want. Be willing to try different settings on manual because you might not have the right one even if you think you do. Move around your subject as much as possible to get the right angle Last but not least have fun with it and keep trying every chance you get. I am so pleased many people enjoy this shot. I had fun taking it.
