A storm moved in as I was set up to take sunset pictures of this old Fargo Truck along the river in Saskatchewan Canada. I got permission to go in this pasture less than 24 hours before I took this photo.

Just 24 hours prior I had received permission to access this land to take a picture of this old truck. I remember seeing this old truck since I was a kid and always wanted to get a closer look at it. The next day. I had just returned home from a long week of 12 hour days at work and was tired, but I saw a small thunderstorm moving in just at Sunset, and thought the sunset might be nice. Shortly after this photo was taken, the lightning started and I switched to 1 second exposures and caught a bolt of lightning at the same location. It was a good evening for photography!Lighting
Sunrise and Sunsets are my favorite time to take pictures of anything. The light is rich at that time, and the sky often provides a colorful backdrop to a photo.Equipment
I used my Canon 6D with 16-35mm L usm II lens. A carbon fiber Milano Tripod and Manfrotto ball head.Inspiration
I really like old vehicles, and have been admiring this one from a far for as long as I can remember. Having got permission 24 hours before to take a closer look, I decided to go take a picture of it at sunset. When I saw the opportunity to take a photo with the sun flares coming through the window, I took it.Editing
Yes, I took 7 bracketed shots and processed as HDR in photomatix. I do the same for many sunset shots like this.In my camera bag
Canon 6D, 16-35mm, 24-70mm II, 7dmkII, 100-400mm II, various flashes, triggers and tripods.Feedback
Look for an interesting composition and stick with it. Spend the time to find a composition you like. I like using F/22 for sunflares during sunsets, it is just something I enjoy.
