I don't know what's going on in the top left corner--maybe a bad scan of the negative? It was shot on expired film with a Pentax K1000 with a really cheap, crummy zoom lens of some kind that I don't remember.

IMO this has to do with the camera - maybe the shutter curtain "jumped" or stuck while falling, which could result in different exposure across the frame.
However, many of your photos need careful post-processing, and especially with regard to contrast, as there are sometime no real black (just dark gray).
You do not need to invest in PP editor, there is an exxcellent freeware program named PhotoScape, and this can greatly augment the quality of presented photos!
