Behind The Lens

Location
the photo was taken in my litte portable home studio at home in the basement of my house in treffen in carinthia (austria).
Time
the team met in my house at 9am and the painting took approx 3 1/4 hours. the photo was taken at 12:46 am. i know the exact time because afterwards i had to go to work :-)
Lighting
used 2 softboxes from the left and the right on the lowest power because of the smal size (width 3,5 meters) of my basement
Equipment
Canon EOS 30D, Canon EF 24-70mm f/2,8 L USM, free hand, 2 studio flashes
Inspiration
the idea came up because i heard of a charity for childhood cancer awareness on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/events/1403190113344140/) where the also wanted to get images pointed on this theme or better on the motto "Go gold for childhood cancer awareness month". also a black bodypaint with only a few golden spots was long time in my queue. this said a took the chance, asked the painter and the model and the project happend.
Editing
yes, the post processing took most time of the work. i'm using only lightroom for my postprocessing. because of the light from left and right side the impure skin took big shadows and all of them had to be removed. also i added more black and lightend the gold parts.
In my camera bag
Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Canon EF 16-35mm 1:2,8L II USM Canon EF 24-70mm f/2,8 L USM Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Canon EF 70-200 mm 1:2,8 L IS II USM Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT
Feedback
take your time to get your light prepared also take time to get the model as ready as it could be, all you can prepare and finish before the photo you don't have to postproduce if you model is not a professional, which is it most of the time, try to make it as convinient as possible for your model, because this will also impact the result.
