Location
This photo was taken at the "Sharr Mountain", Tetovo, Republic of Macedonia. I am a self-taught photographer trying to capture unique beauties of the nature around us.Time
This photo was taken last year, early in September, noon time. Like most of the places where people do not live, this place was not easy to reach. It took us five hours hiking and we had to sleep over in a tent in order to get the best light. It is one of the rarest natural lakes on the top of the mountain with endless tranquility.Lighting
Although the day was cloudy and I was not sure how the lighting will turn out, mixture of daylight and clouds in the sky gave a perfect reflection in the lake, which in my opinion made the scenery even more beautiful.Equipment
This was shot with Nikon D3200, 18-55 mm lens, Velbon carbon fiber tripod.Inspiration
It was actually by chance I discovered this place. Our initial shooting spot was another area, but while crossing the site, I noticed this lake and I was just stunned with it. I found it very picturesque and its desertness inspired me.Editing
Most of landscape shootings require post-processing, so I had to use it also in making of this photo. As this photo was taken during day time, I had to make two of them. One of the foreground and one of the sky, merging them in photoshop. When I was done with photoshop, in order to get the required colors I had to use plugins such as Nik software and Viveza. In my camera bag
First thing to be packed is my Sigma 10-20 mm lens, as it is the most widest from all other lenses I have and of course my camera. I also carry telephoto lens, as I also prefer to make distant photos. Tripod is also always with me as some other minor accessories, such as rainproof covers for the equipment, filters.Feedback
Always try to take your photos during the sunrise or sunset as you will get the best lighting for the scenery. Sometimes weather conditions can surprise us and we need to be prepared and patient. Always look around you, do not just set your mind on your primary goal (lesson that I have learned from this trip) as there is probably more to see and discover, sometimes unexpected in a right moment, with a right light, can lead to unforgettable moment that you might be the first one to catch.
