good colors - really like the way the tree roots snake away from the tree

Behind The Lens

Location

Bryce Canyon NP, near Sunset Point, taken in 2013.

Time

This was taken September 6th at 2:28 in the afternoon. It was cloudy with sprinkles most of the day, a little dark and gloomy.

Lighting

It was a little dark which helped the color I think and the dark clouds overhead added interest to the photo.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D300 with a Nikkor 18-200 VR lens, Uv filter and handheld.

Inspiration

The tree itself, growing and healthy in such a seemingly precarious spot. Also it's roots growing away from it which draws you into the photo and the backdrop.

Editing

A little color added with Photoshop Elements 4.0

In my camera bag

Just the D300 and 18-200 with extra battery and memory cards. Simple and lightweight.

Feedback

I move around a lot and take many photos at different angles and perspectives of the same subject. A little luck with clouds can help too.
