Thank you both. This was taken at an old farm I go to often. The whole place is fascinating. It's like a portal back in time and forces me to ponder why it was abandoned. I've tried to learn the history of the place but sadly nobody seems to know who lived there or what happened to them. Unfortunately, the area where it stands is soon to be cleared away for a townhouse project, so I try to visit as often as possible while I still can.

The blessed apple basket... Even the apple basket tires and lets go... I LOVE this shot. I think back on the days when I lived in NJ and we regularly went to the farms to purchase our produce and fruit. The apple man was a treasured person and we recycled using the best apple baskets before recycle was known. Potato man, blueberry farms, organic was just fresh veggies off the farm yet on roadside stands and honor systems were many. A few still standing today as is this apple basket. I think on farms, the apple baskets and the strawberry baskets must be kings and queens. Once you have your "pick up more" basket, then you start to gather and collect them for several purposes. boxes too. Apple boxes for some reason are always a very sturdy, strong box. But the basket as this one would be treasures maybe freshly painted and set out on a step for fall decoration or fourth of July creation! Maybe for storage of kids toys or hooks added to make a tool hanger in the garage. The apple baskets even had fitting round lids. The floor boards detaching meant nothing to the apple orchard and hey, this basket still has life in it to turn up half way and hold the beautiful small mums in autumn displays and more. the front end of a child's home built racing car. What we see left in this shot could be the final piece to win in a local parade! The leaves are just supposed to be there. It makes it cozier inside to go visit and take pictures or a lunch or clean the apples, paint, etc. Although falling apart and aging, it all has its own character of quaint awaiting. One caution would be to tell others not of the nice farm dog but to watch for the nails in the wood. Doesn't every story have a caution? I just want to put a color yet not. As a child, my fav color was brown, believe it or not! To this day I have no idea why but brown was it and still can be at times. Just down to earth to me and soothing, nature feel and crisp as outdoors. The many days of memories held by these boards and the basket are cherishable. I'm very glad that you DID share this, and now I'm debating over whether or not I should go back and get that basket and repurpose it since the building it sits in now is not going to be around much longer. We're having an unusually warm December so far, so perhaps a long voyage is approaching ;)
