My brother has photographed trains for 35 years. The composition, black and white choice and the angle of the shot are superb. I would like it if you had shot for the sheer power of the engine by being closer to the track.

Behind The Lens

Location
This shot was taken December 2012 when this steam engine called "Little-Jumbo" was on a Christmas-route between Seinäjoki and Koskenkorva in western Finland.
Time
It was the first train of the morning at 10am
Lighting
There was heavy clouds and sun had just risen so light was quite low and my shutter speed was little bit too slow so this shot is not sharp as it should be.
Equipment
This was shot on a Canon EOS60D with canon EF-S 15-85.
Inspiration
These old trains run a few times a year through my hometown and always I try to be there with my camera. This was very first time for me.
Editing
Post-process was made in photoshop CS6, I removed some power lines, ditch where I was standing and converted to black and white except lights, number plates and red bumper.
In my camera bag
I use Canon EOS 6D, Canon 16-35 f/4 L and Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 for landscapes, Canon EF100 f/2.8 L for close-ups and macros, Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 for wildlife. I like to shoot landscape and still life photos,camera mounted on Sirui R-4203 tripod most of the time.
Feedback
Low light and moving object is a challenge for me. I try to be on location before so I can do some test shots. Camera on manual mode, aperture quite big, I like to keep it about f/4.0, shutter speed around 1/640 - 1/800, ISO lowest possible but high enough to keep good exposure. I use servo focusing, focus on front number plate, and continuous shooting to take several shots.
