Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken in my front garden. I live in sunny Queensland in Australia. I love my flowers, this is a purple Spider Daisy that I have growing in my garden.

Time

This shot was taken at the very end of the day in the last light. The sun had dropped behind the trees but there was still this beautiful light in the sky. It was full of flowers and buds so I framed the flower I liked the best.

Lighting

I love love love the last light of the day. There is something about that time of day that just speaks to me. Late afternoon in spring in Qld is a beautiful time to shoot.

Equipment

My trusty Olympus OMD EM10 Mark ii, 25mm lens, no tripod, no flash, no other equipment.

Inspiration

I love growing flowers and taking photos of them, so when its spring I get very excited about all the photo opportunities I have. I love the way the petals curled in this flower, and the colour is just gorgeous.

Editing

I did a couple of minor adjustments in lightroom. I cropped the image slightly, and adjusted the temp slightly. No other post processing was done.

In my camera bag

My Olympus OMD EM10 Mark ii, 25mm lens, 45mm lens (my fave for portraits) and my other lens usually come along for the ride. Always a spare battery LOL

Feedback

Get down!! Always try different angles with flowers, sometimes its not the angle you think that is the most effective for the shot. You don't necessarily need a macro lens to take a shot like this. Its still on my wish list.
