Behind The Lens

Location

Taken at Stovepipe Wells Campground Death Valley National Park.

Time

Taken about 7:30 in the morning on Nov. 26, 2015.

Lighting

The sun was rising behind me so the moon fortunately was not over bright and I could capture a good amount of the details with my zoom lens.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D610 with a Nikon 80-400 mm lens and this shot was handheld.

Inspiration

We were getting ready for a hike and had just finished breakfast when the moon moved out from behind some clouds and appeared in all it glory just before it set behind some red Death Valley mountains.

Editing

I processed this in LR and used a plugin from On1.

In my camera bag

I usually carry a Nikon D610, 16-35 and 80-400 Nikon lenses. I also carry an assortment of ND filters and tripod.

Feedback

For a handheld distant shot with a zoom lens image stabilization is a necessity. Take lots of shots and hopefully some will be in good focus. ;)
