Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken in my house one evening as just a quick snap of my pet. I am a self taught photographer so any images are a quick lesson for me.

Time

This is one of my favourite images of Monty. He was settling down to go to sleep and kept looking at me with his beady eyes as if to ask when I was going to sleep too.

Lighting

I wanted the light to create a slight mystery within Monty's eyes, making you wonder what he's looking at? What's he thinking? I got him to raise his eyes slightly so that the bed room spotlights were shining towards them. Making his eyes stand out and glow.

Equipment

This was shot on my Canon 750D with a 50m f/1.8 lens. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

His eyes. They're always huge, I wanted to capture the mystery within his eyes. This is what inspired me to take this photo.

Editing

I changed the contrast of this photo to make the lighting more mysterious and changed the image into black and white to add to the effect that u wanted.

In my camera bag

I don't have much kit as I am only just starting out, but I always pack my Canon 750D with my 50m f/1.8 lens which makes anyone look beautiful, my canon speed lite and my Sony A500 with my 35mm f/1.8 macro lens. Occasionally when I'm photographing landscapes I'll lug around my tripod.

Feedback

Try not to plan your images, the more natural the image the better I'd say!!!
