Behind The Lens

Location
Photo was taken at the Eastern Neck National Wildlife Preserve near Rock Hall, Maryland which is located on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Eastern Neck is managed as part of the Chesapeake Marshlands NWR Complex.
Time
Photo was taken on November 26th, 2015 at 6:19 pm during the golden time of beautiful sunset viewing of the Chester River, one of Maryland's treasured waterways.
Lighting
The lighting in this photo is totally natural with nothing added except for the beautiful sun going down.
Equipment
This photo was taken with a Cannon EOS Rebel T5 with a Sigma 18-250 mm Lens using a tripod and remote, with an ISO of 100, f-stop F/16, exposure 1/125 sec. Focal length is 37 mm. It was taken in RAW format.
Inspiration
As I was walking around the area taking some other photos, I happened to come behind the grasses and look at the sunset and I knew I had to take the shot as the sun lit up the sky as if Mother Nature was painting it.
Editing
Right now I am perfecting my skill in SOOC with little or no changes, except for contrast and cropping. I feel manipulation is fine but I should know how to take a good photo first. Once I am skilled in taking the best photos in camera, I will then endeavor to learn how to manipulate my photos through software that will compliment my original photos. I use Cannon Photo Professional software to do any converting to .jpg, contrast and/or cropping and Picasa to add my watermark because Cannon won't do this like I want.
In my camera bag
I usually have my Cannon T5 with the Sigma 18-250 lens but I also have Cannon 18-55 mm and Cannon 75-300 mm lenses along with various magnifying, graduated color and ND lenses, extra batteries, remote, tripod and cleaning supplies.
Feedback
Maryland is full of landscape diversity, with mountains to the west and to the Eastern Shore, you can find so many natural wildlife and nature preserves to view the Chesapeake Bay and it's many tributaries. I mostly go during the autumn to early winter to get the most color in my landscapes but if you want to take sunset photos, you have to be at that "perfect" spot fairly early so that you can have your camera and it's setting ready because it doesn't take long for the sun to completely set. I have figured that it's only 15-20 minutes available once the sun hits that perfect spot till it is beyond the horizon, so be ready for it.
