I took this in my backyard and was learning how to crop. So this can only by an 8x10 but I've never been able to capture anything like it since. The original file was eaten by Lightroom because I didn't understand it at the time. Sigh.

Location
I took this photo in our backyard when we lived in Basalt, Colorado. We had far more hummingbirds than we do where we live now.Time
This was taken in the afternoon.Lighting
I just used the sunny day and the sun was not overhead anymore. It was shining to the right of the birds.Equipment
Nikon D600 with Tamron 150-600 Gen 1 lens. Handheld.Inspiration
I love hummingbirds. We just had so many and I was playing with my new lens and trying different focus areas.Editing
Even with the 600mm lens, I didn't know what I had until I started zooming in on areas of the photos in Lightroom. When I saw this I was really surprised. I cropped it in really close though so I can't really enlarge it more than 8x12. Live and learn. In my camera bag
My Nikon D600, my 35-70mm, a macro lens and for night photography I use the Nikkor 14-24mm lens. I also recently purchased a Sony Bridge Camera the RX10-IV due to it's 600 mm lens. It is equivalent to the Tamron and lighter. I use a Sony a6300 for underwater photography 10-14mm lens.Feedback
Use fast shutter speed and burst mode. If you can program your camera for back button focusing, it really helps for fast moving objects.
