Behind The Lens

Location

I was staying in Port Seaton when I took this photo, it was the first visit back to Scotland after a 20 year absence

Time

This was taken at sunset, we were just having a wonder along the river and the sunset was too beautiful not to get the camera out.

Lighting

This is all natural light, I have taken many sunset shots in my time all over the UK but Scotland has always had the best natural light for sunsets and sunrises. No need to edit when Mother Nature sets it up for you.

Equipment

I don’t have a lot of equipment, this was taken without a tripod and just a basic Nikon D500 camera with a 18-35mm lens, nothing special as I just have the basics.

Inspiration

I was out for a walk with my family just explaining to them that I used to live over the water where the sun was setting, the memories of my childhood home along with my own children being with me and the beauty of the sky, I really could t miss taking some photos.

Editing

No this is as it was shot.

In my camera bag

When this was shot I just had a Nikon D500 with an 18-35mm and 55-300mm lens in my bag, now I have a Cannon with again the same 2 basic lenses, I must admit I prefer the Nikon to the Cannon.

Feedback

I really couldn’t give advice, I’m no where near an expert, just sometimes a lucky amateur. I’m a firm believer that Mother Nature provides a great canvas and instead of trying hours to set up the perfect shot just look at what’s around you there’s always something that’s beautiful, strange, wonder or weird to aim your lens at.
