This was a studio shoot. I had worked with Lou just once before and she had contacted me about doing a nude shoot, but I suggested an "implied nude" shoot, which she jumped at. So I rented time in a studio shoot in Dublin city centre and we met up and tried out a few different poses. I supplied the Hat and the Rose.Time
It was in the middle of the day so around 3.00 - 4.00 pmLighting
2 softboxes used as far as I remember. One on each side so as to light her as evenly as possible.Equipment
My nikon D7000 and Nikon 24-70 mmInspiration
Playing around with different poses and hat and props and this one just kind of came together. It was only after I had processed it at home that I had the idea of colour popping the rose.Editing
Shot against a black background and then a vignette added to darken it down further. My usual portrait processing steps applied - skin smoothing, increase exposure around the face slightly, then converted to mono and colour popped the roseIn my camera bag
Nikon Z6, cable release, tripod, 24-70mm, 70-200. Big stopper and Polariser as well as graduated filterFeedback
I usually shoot portraits with a theme in mind so I prepare for that theme and then on the day of the shoot you are not stuck for ideas. Once the model and the MUA are collaborating with you on the theme you usually end up coming away with some cool shots that everyone is happy with.
