This photo is one of my top favourites to date, still! I took this a few years ago after the ice storm in Ontario, Canada. We had had two days of freezing rain, and around noon on the second day, the rain stopped. What photographer could stop themselves from taking full advantage of this opportunity!! It was amazing and beautiful! and just a little while after I started, the sun peaked through the clouds and lit all the ice like diamonds! It was spectacular, like a winter wonderland! This was the best shot from that day, right into the sun as it set to end one of my favourite photo walks.

Location
I took this photo at the park along the trail by my house. It's a beautiful trail that goes through the whole town and has a lot of great opportunity for nature photography so it's something I go along a lot.Time
This was taken in the evening a few hours before sunset when the light looks great but just before golden hour.Lighting
My dad me I went on a photo walk down the trail after an ice storm, the way that everything covered in ice reacts with light and the environment is amazing. It had been mostly cloudy all day so images were coming out a bit flat, but the sun started to just peak through the clouds in the evening making everything sparkle and look like a winter wonderland, I saw this scene and picked out a good spot to get as much of the scene at just the right angle with the sun coming in through all the ice, it was breathtaking!Equipment
I was shooting at the time with Nikon's D600 using a Nikkor 28 - 300mm lens, I had a manfrotto tripod but aside from that, no other equipment.Inspiration
The amazing scenery and location worked perfectly for a winter-themed landscape shot, and the setting sun's glowing light just made the shot too much to resist.Editing
I really enjoy taking time to make images the way I see in my head, I like to use post processing to show people how I see the world around me and how I see the people in it. I like to create scenes and art, but I also enjoy letting many photos carry themselves and only add back what the camera took away, with this photograph i only added a bit of clarity contrast and sharpness back in to what I had seen with my own eyes.In my camera bag
I often carry my D600, though I will occasionally use my D7000 to take advantage of the extra cropping for more length out of my telephoto lens. The lenses I use most are my 10-20mm sigma crop sensor, my Nikkor 28-300mm, and my 85mm 1.8. I also occasionally carry with me a couple yongnuo flash units with the yongnuo triggers, cheap but efficient and easy to use.Feedback
Keep getting yourself out the door, never let yourself make excuses to stay in. Even if you don't have any ideas or inspiration, or think that the weather or plans aren't going the way you wanted, if you push past that and shoot anyways, you will amaze yourself with what you get!
