On our way back from our honeymoon in Florida, we decided to stop in Old Savannah Georgia to see it, as I've always heard how beautiful it is!Time
This was taken around early evening, around dinner hour, as we were just about to leave and head back home.Lighting
Evening sun is just so much softer and warmer. I loved the shadows on both the lamp post and the street sign, and it's usually early morning or evening to get these without being too harsh.Equipment
Shot with Canon 7D, 24-105mm lens, F5.6, shutter speed 1/125 and ISO 100Inspiration
I felt this intersection was a great example of what Old Savannah is all about. The fact that the lamp post and the street sign were in two different "rule of thirds" spots made it a must take shot.Editing
SOOC this was a little too boring for me. I wasn't really even going to do anything with it, but I thought the bones of it were good, so I started experimenting with the lighting. I added a warm overlay to it, and the lamp light was not on when I took the shot. I added the warm light in the lamp. The natural shadows makes it for me :)In my camera bag
My Canon 7D, which someday I hope to upgrade to a Mark 5 DIII, 100mm and my 24-105mm. A couple ND filters and my remote trigger. A flashlight and a head lamp for night photography as wellFeedback
I think really, the key to any good shot is not necessarily Where you're at, what What your eye sees. There is beauty all around us, even in our own back yards...beauty can be found in the simplest of things...including an ordinary street light and street sign...you just have to Look for it!
