Location
This image was taken on Lake Jocassee in upstate South Carolina. I was traveling across the lake in a boat during Autumn 2015. We rounded a point and there it was...this tree on a small island about 40 feet out into the lake with an incredible array of autumn colors behind it. I was fortunate enough to have the right lens on the camera at the time and captured 5 quick shots. Then it was gone. This was the best of the images.Time

I love autumn, and every year I make it a point to experience as much Autumn color as I can. South Carolina is a great place for this as it is covered with hardwoods of every description.Editing
Post processing mainly involved adjusting white balance and color saturation. I also worked with the tree (the focus of the image) to add a little brightness and sharpening while softening the trees in the background. An adjustment of clarity worked nicely there (I used an adjustment brush to work that bit of magic...)In my camera bag
I try to match my kit with whatever I plan for the day. In this case I had the Tamron 70-200 for longer shots and a Sigma 17-70 for short work. A Canon 70D and a Manfrotto 190 carbon fiber tripod filled the rest of my bag.Feedback
Be ready for anything. Conditions in the mountains can change in a matter of minutes and, if you haven't planned for them, you may miss the photo of a lifetime. These images only present themselves once, never to be the same again...
