Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Rowena Crest along Oregon's Columbia River Gorge.

Time

It was a cold and cloudy sunset on an autumn day. Days are really short during the fall.

Lighting

The sky still had some diffused light in it, but the sun was already nowhere to be seen.

Equipment

Canon 6D.

Inspiration

This place is popular for its scenic drive and I wanted to make the journey out there myself. As a motoring enthusiast, I love a good road trip.

Editing

I subtly pushed the warm tones in post to highlight the ambience at sunset.

In my camera bag

Usually I bring my Canon 6D in my bag with a polarized filter and an ND filter with me. If I'm out an entire day I'll take a UV filter along with one or two extra batteries. I strap my tripod on my backpack when I'm hiking to camp, for those starry sky shots.

Feedback

Look for sexy angles of beautiful, winding roads... Some good "road porn" really inspires motorists and petrolheads.
