Location
This was taken at Marina Bay in SingaporeTime
This was taken just after sunset after I had spent the day in Marina Bay Gardens taking shots of the fabulous light trees there. I decided to walk to my next destination which was beers with friends in Clark Quay. On the way I passed the Helix Bridge managed to quickly set up and take this shot whilst my friends were texting me asking where the hell was I and as the world cup rugby game we were going to watch together had already started. I'm amazed the shot worked out so well considering how hassled I was.Lighting
I love taking night shots like this and getting the exposure just right to pick out the details in the shadows without over exposing the bright lights, always fun.Equipment
Nikon P750, my Sirui Tripod, a standard Nikkor 55 - 200mm lens and a cable shutter releaseInspiration
The Helix Bridge is an amazing sight, such great architecture and I was trying to figure out how to get that impact into an image. I remembered another photo I had seen of it and I was trying get some of the same elements into the shotEditing
I used Lightroom and HDR Efex. I took a lot of time bringing out the shadows but tried to make it look "real" despite the HDR effect. In my camera bag
All of the above, plus a wide angle Nikkor and a simple Prime. I think thats all you need. Great equipment, simple to use.Feedback
I think I was lucky with this one but I believe great pictures take time and effort and a real understanding of the subject before you can get a truly great picture.
