Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Tsaritsino Park in Moscow, Russia. It was during the annual Festival of Lights.

Time

I cannot remember the exact time but guess it was around 21h00 as it beomes dark rather late in Moscow. We wanted to watch the laser show at the Park and it would have started around then.

Lighting

I had no special training in taking photos in this type of lighting and I was 'winging' it. I am self-taught and was experimenting with my manual settings. This was really a great surprise when I saw how well it had come out.

Equipment

I used my Canon EOS 5 Mark III D and a Canon 24-105 mm lens. I did not have a flash with me or even own a tripod at that time.

Inspiration

I just loved the colours of the lights on the bridge and the reflections in the water. I had to slide down a river bank to get to a place where there were no people in front of me. I took many of this bridge from different angles and positions but liked this one the best.

Editing

I cannot remeber whether I cropped the photo or not, but if I did it would have been the only post-processing I did. I have had my camera for about 3 years now and still try not to do any post-processing. I do not particularly like post-processing and also am not really an expert in it, as once again, I am self taught.

In my camera bag

My Canon 24-105 mm lens and my 50 mm prime lens. Two extra batteries and about 5 cards.

Feedback

Try to keep your ISO settings as low as possible and only adjust the Av and Tv if necessary. Take many shots, altering your position and angle as much as possible. Use a tripod if you have one.
