Location
The photo was taken at a place called Smithville park located in New Jersey. Its one of our many free county parks that have plenty of walking trails like this one and a large lake that you can walk around. There are several docks as well boarding the lake that you can explore and get up close with Herons and other wildlife.Time
I went out a few hours before sunset that day. Finding the best time of day where the sunlight is shining down is key to what helped me to catch this image, and makes for the vibrant colors.Lighting
I believe its getting the sun in the right direction that helps in many ways. I used mother nature to my advantage in capturing this great moment. I am constantly teaching myself new ways to help capture the essence of the moment.Equipment
This photo was shot with Sony A6000, using a 16-50mm. My settings I used during this shot was ƒ/5.6, 1/160s, ISO 100. No tripod was used for this photo.Inspiration
I like shooting off the beaten path. I was looking for a place that would give me depth along with colors. I want to capture the feeling of fall in a photo that when you look at the photo you would feel as if you were there right next to me experiencing the same life emotions.Editing
Not all photos that you take can be displayed as is. There is some post processing in this photo. Not much post processing though I got lucky with the lighting being in my favor.In my camera bag
First off to carry all my equipment I use the Lowepro Fastpack BP 150 AW II Camera Case that can store all that I need for my trips. My Sony A6000 sits nice and protected among the soft padding liners that can be interchangeable. Next I have a Sony 30mm f/3.5 Macro Lens, along with Sony E 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS Lens, Sony Fisheye Conversion Lens, and Sony E-Mount 16mm f/2.8 Wide-Angle Oh yeah forgot my most important new addition to my lens family, the Rokinon 12mm F2.0 NCS CS Ultra Wide Angle Lens. In addition to these lens I also carry several lens stop filters along with 5 spare batteries, a flexible mini tripod stand for the low spaces, and MeFoto Aluminum Backpacker Travel Tripod in blue. This Tripod is especially handy in high winds and un-level grounds to get that right angle shot, or for longer exposure times.Feedback
My advise is expect the unexpected. Sometimes I go into a place expecting to capture what I see in my minds eye, but I end up leaving with something beyond my exceptions! I have noticed in my years of photography that you may have photographed at a location many times before, but then this one time you come back and you see something totally new. Even very familiar places can offer a new perspective and breathe new life into a picture.
