I love how you've captured the flowers, with the farm in the background!

This photo was shot on my family's farm in Upstate, NY. I spent most of my childhood here dreaming & chasing the light, the home where my art began.Time
Golden hour is my favorite time of day. I pretty much always schedule my evening around the last hour of daylight just so I don't miss the chance to experience & shoot a good sunset. This photo was taken on July 30, 2015 at 8:13 PM.Lighting
In order to capture the shadows of the flowers, as well as the colors & details of the sunset, I had to be sure to shoot with a higher shutter speed, making the image look a bit under exposed on the back of the camera. Had I shot with the exposure suggested within my camera, the sky would have been bleached out, which can be incredibly difficult to pull the details back into the image in Lightroom.Equipment
This photo was shot handheld with a Nikon D5000 18-55mm lens 1/320 sec at f 3.5 ISO 200.Inspiration
Nature always sparks my creativity & over the last few years, I’ve been pushing the boundaries of perspectives. Perspectives tell stories & my art often reflects the view point of a child, much how my inner self views the world. To children, the world feels gigantic, effortlessly filling them with wonder & curiosity. It’s the world where dreams are created without boundaries. I firmly believe we’ve all been given a purpose, a set of skills & talents that serve the greater good. My hope is that my work inspires viewers to dream & create. To see that there’s still beauty & hope in the mundane, we just have to be willing to see it. When we stop dreaming, we simply stop living.Editing
This photo was edited in Lightroom. I generally tweak the highlights & shadows for sunsets, as the color is already there. A little contrast & a touch of grain gave me the moody feeling I was going for.In my camera bag
I've upgraded my gear since shooting this photo, I now carry a Nikon D610 along with my favorite lens 85mm f 1.4, as well as a 24-120mm f 4.0 & a 70-200mm f 5.6.Feedback
Patience & stillness is key. I often have a hard time creating good art when I'm not living in the present moment. Breath, walk around, sit & stare, open your senses to take in your environment. Eventually something will catch your eye. Nature is the greatest gift & offers us endless chances to see & experience her beauty.
