Location
Quindalup Falls is situated near Moses Rock in the Yallingup region of the South West of Western Australia. The water flows from this small brook, over the falls and then about 200m before flowing into the Indian Ocean. This excursion involved a pretty hectic four wheel drive through some very rocky tracks that headed down to the falls. The falls are accessible via foot from the south, but that is a few kilometres walk through hilly sand dunes, carrying back pack full of gear makes the drive more of an option.Time
I took this photo November 2015. Almost summer time Down Under. From memory it was later in the day, possibly around 4pm.Lighting
With this shot I had the advantage of the sun being behind me, the falls facing westerly. And being that little bit later in the day, the sun starting to soften allowed for the longer exposure without too much input from me.Equipment
Nikon D90, 18-55 kit lens, tripodInspiration
My son had shown a keen interest in photography and he had been aching to go shoot these falls after a friend had told us about them. I have since been back twice more to the falls, while he has been again.Editing
From memory I cant really remember my work flow from back then, but I would have used Lightroom, and would have cropped it. Possibly the usual,In my camera bag
These days its my Nikon D810, 70-200mm f2.8, YN560 Yongnuo speedlight, Lee filters, D90 (backup), 24-7-, f2.8, 10-20mm (DX format) and 8mm circular fisheye.Feedback
Preferably later in the day, as early morning the falls are in shadow. Obviously when the falls are flowing and the optimal would be with some clouds or structure in the sky above. Shoot from a low position and try to capture some reflection from the small pool below the falls.
