People get pictures blown up, or painted pictures of light house, this needs to be one. The amount of beautiful contrast, makes this such a dynamic image that draws you in without being overwhelming. Not everyone can be on-site but this image captures the essence.😀

Location
This photo was taken in Portland, Maine.Time
The photo was taken between 9am-11am.Lighting
The lighting was ideal for this photo. Clouds in the sky and some shadows to show some texture in the rocks below.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Canon 70D, with a tripod. It was rather windy that day.Inspiration
I have always been fascinated with Lighthouses. For our 40th wedding anniversary, my husband and I spent a few days in Maine. We went on a "scavenger hunt" to find as many Lighthouses as we could that were near Portland.Editing
I used Lightroom to darken the sky just a bit, and added some clarity to the rocks to bring out the texture. I really didn't do more than that.In my camera bag
Normally in my camera bag I carry a 50mm, 85mm, and an all purpose lens. For this photo, I used my 18-270mm lens. It's a great all-purpose travel lens when you are using natural light. I also have a lightweight tripod that is easy to carry and of course I have extra batteries.Feedback
This lighthouse is a beautiful photo opportunity. The only advise I would give is to get an early start and carry a tripod. This photo was taken at 27mm so you will need a lens with wide angle capabilities.
