Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo of male Roosevelt elk on a road trip in California.I am a self taught photographer, so each photo I take it’s like in adventure to me.

Time

This photo was taken on November 2, 2015 at 12:28 PM . I remember my husband and I were driving in the car on our way back from visiting my cousin in Sacramento when we came across a herd of elk ,we stopped to take photos of them.

Lighting

I use the natural sunlight for this photo as it was a nice sunny day in California

Equipment

I used a SX710 Canon PowerShot camera that has a good zoom lens. I did not use the tripod and hand held the camera for the shot.

Inspiration

We were very excited to see I heard of else sitting at the side of the road.We have never seen that many else before in our lives. This was the biggest of the group with the biggest rack of horns. He was a beauty and no doubt my favourite for taking a photo of.

Editing

This photo was taken many years ago and I believe I might’ve edit it in App called Snapseed to bring out the clearness of the image.

In my camera bag

I usually have a lens cloth and an extra battery and camera card in my camera bag. I keep things light as every cameras are hard for me to carry around.

Feedback

Do not make sudden movements and use a zoom lens when taking photos of wildlife. We were lucky that this particular group of Elks we’re not really bothered by our presence.
