I decided to head out for a day trip to a Provincial Park along Lake Ontario. It was a beautiful bright fall day,and the colors were spectacular.I couldn't wait to get started with many ideas floating around in my head.Time
This photo was taken mid day.Lighting
I waited for the perfect day before heading out. The clouds were big and beautiful and the sky was so blue and I knew I would be in for a lot of fun with my camera and props on hand. I know it is not always ideal to shoot in bright sunlight, but I wanted the colors to really pop in all of my ideas with a wine glass.Equipment
This shot was taken with my Canon Rebel XSi, using my EFS18-55mm lens. I had to lay on my stomach the ground for this photo, so no tripod was used. There was a class of children in the area at the time, and they got quite a kick out of watching me. I wish I could of shown them the final result of why I was laying on my belly!Inspiration
Somewhere I had seen a picture with a glass of wine and sunset in behind. It intrigued me, and thought wow, there is so many possibilities with this type of photography. I had visited this lakeside area along the water many times, but today was different, and I wanted to capture everything through a new perspective. I was pumped when I returned home and downloaded the pictures right away, and when I came to this photo, I was thrilled with the results, because I captured more than I was aware I had. I even captured the sun in the top right corner of the wine glass.Editing
The only post processing I did, was slightly crop, and flipped upside down. I loved it just the way it was seen, and the colors popped without any extra work. In this photo, I captured the lake, beach, fall leaves on bushes, beautiful clouds, and of course, my favorite 130 year old Lighthouse. In my camera bag
I never leave home without my equipment, which includes 2 Canon Rebels XSi, my 55-250 mm lens, 18-55 mm, and my EF 100 mm Macro Lens. I also carry my Canon Speedlite 320EX External Flash. I always have a small folding chair with pockets to hold equipment or refreshments/food and of course, my tripod and umbrella.Feedback
Get creative, grab an interesting wine glass (check for flaws in the glass first) fill it with water or white wine, then take a picture normally of something interesting, then set up and try to take the same shot through the glass. Try to remember to make sure everything looks level in your viewfinder and snap away. You will be surprised at what you can create through a different perspective.
