Location
This images was taken in Lake Louise, one of the busiest place in Banff National Park. One of my favourite place to photograph specially during sunrise/sunset where the mountain revealing its own beauty.Time
I've been shooting in Lake Louse mostly during the sunrise as the alpenglow is perfectly hitting the glacier and some of the mountains around the lake. So i planned to get the shot during sunset. I come to the place an hour before the sunset too secure my spot, that's how Lake Louise is so busy during those time as many photographers and tourist around. This photo is taken around 6:15pm.Lighting
One of the best sunset displayed in Lake Louise. It's a little bit tricky to shoot on sunset here, lots of shadow in the area and strong highlights on this sky at the event of sunset. I did a little bit of long exposure to smoothen the clouds and give and recovering some of the shadow on the mid ground.Equipment
I'm am using Nikon D800 and Nikon 16-35 F4 with Benro Travel Angle Tripod. For the filters, I'm using Lee filter system and 3 stop GND Formatt Hitech for the glass to recover the highlight on the sky.Inspiration
The beauty of this lake inspired me to take the photos during sunrise/sunset, when the magic of mountain revealing their own beauty. And i keep coming back to this place no matter what mother nature bring here in this place.Editing
In my landscape photography the post processing is the most critical stage to finalize the image. You should have a workflow from importing images, processing the image until exporting for the final image. Im using the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) and CS6 on my entire post processing. Cleaning spot and dust from the sensor took me a time, you need to zoom 100% to reveal those thing.In my camera bag
Im using Lowepro 350AW, lots of compartment in this bag. I have my D800 body and 16-35 F4 attached in to it. 70-200 F2.8 for some of the close up shoot of the mountain, 50mm F1.8 for panorama shot and SB900 flash. My set of filters, Lee filter system and glass from Formatt Hitech and Singh Ray. Remote shutter and cable release. Two spare battery and four SD Card just to make it sure that i never miss any event of sunrise/sunset. Hex key set to tighten my tripod and quick release plate. Some shower cap to cover front of the lens from snow or rain. And one last thing couple of micro fibre cloth for cleaning filters and front lens.Feedback
One important thing in landscape photography is search the location you plan to go. There's a lot of source in the internet to find some of the hidden spot in one location that gives you an idea. Look for weather forecast in the location you plan to shoot a day before, so you have an idea if it is going to be overcast, cloudy or clear and bring appropriate clothing specially on winter season where the weather change rapidly. Lastly, know the elements in one image of landscape shot like water, mountain and clouds. If you follow this advice then you ready to shot in one location and wait for the right time.
